↵[Vitor] will not get a warm-up fight before he vies for the 185-pound belt.
“Vitor will be in (the best) absolute physical condition to return to the octagon and fight for the UFC title by November 2010,” Farah wrote today in an email.
If Silva wins at UFC 117, White recently told reporters, he will fight Belfort and then make a semi-permanent move to light heavyweight.
Vitor Belfort Set For Title Shot In His Next Fight
↵↵- Vitor Belfort will fight Anderson Silva in his next fight, after Silva fights Chael Sonnen. (HT: Bloody Elbow)
↵SIlva is likely to be successful in his defense against Sonnen given Sonnen’s likely need to control the fight en route to a decision. Anderson has the ability to finish standing or on the ground at any point in the fight which is a huge advantage for him. Then again, Sonnen has made a career out of surprising performances. Notably his fights against Paulo Filho and his controlling wins against both Yushin Okami and Nate Marquardt.
↵If Silva beats Sonnen, then beats Belfort there really isn’t much point to his remaining at 185. A permanent move to 205 makes a lot of sense.
