Limas Sweed Placed On IR, Will Miss Entire Season
When Limas Sweed ruptured his Achilles tendon on May 2, the extent of the injury, and the amount of time he would miss, were yet to be determined. On Tuesday, both of those questions were answered. The Pittsburgh Steelers placed Limas Sweed on Injured Reserve today.
The Steelers waived Sweed on Monday, but there were no takers and the Steelers were forced to place him on IR instead. Because he was waived, he will not count against the team’s 80-man roster limit.

The Steelers on Monday confirmed WR Limas Sweed had surgery for what Mike Tomlin described as an achilles tendon injury.
There’s still no official word on what exactly the injury is and how long it will take him. Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette did a little research to determine how long Sweed might be missing.
