The Mets came into the weekend as the newly-minted leader of the N.L. East, 1.5 games ahead of the mighty Phillies. A new era in Mets baseball looked to be about to happen. However it seems that they’re in the midst of a lesson in tough love from their division counterparts.
The Mets Seem To Have Remembered They Are The Mets
↵First the Phillies ended New York’s eight-game winning streak on Saturday with a 10-0 drubbing.
↵Tonight we’re not even halfway into the game and the Mets’ Johan Santana is doing something he almost never does during a start. Sitting on the bench after less than four-innings of work. The Phillies went apocalyptic on Johan in the 4th, hitting two of their four home-runs on the night, scoring 9 runs and leading the game 11-5. Santana’s line:
↵3.2 IP, 8 hits, 10 runs, 10 earned, 2 walks, 1 K, 4 HRs given up.
↵That mixer Mr. Met was supposed to host at the 40/40 club tonight? Consider it on hiatus.
