There’s precious little advice that any of us at SBN can realistically offer to a major league baseball player on the subject of in-game play. These guys are professionals who have grown up playing the game, and most have forgotten more about the game than we’ll ever know.

Still, we’re pretty confident that we can tell Nyjer Morgan to never ever do again what he did last night. Video is after the break.
At first viewing, we thought he had actually thrown the glove; alas, it was just a pump fake. And in deference to Morgan, there is a time and place for behaving like that on a baseball field for the purposes of expressing frustration. Unfortunately, that time and place is Little League.
At any rate, the blunder didn’t even cost the Nazis the game; Washington would win, 7-6. Still, as TSB notes, that’s not even the first inside-the-parker Morgan has allowed this week; his defensive ineptitude led to Angel Pagan’s four-bagger on Wednesday.
Morgan’s explanation, for what it’s worth, was that he thought the ball had gone over the fence for a home run, affording him the opportunity for such histrionics. So he was just mistaken, is all. We do have to wonder, though, if that’s the way he reacts to all crises.
Scene: Morgan and his wife walk along the river after a lovely dinner. His wife is digging through her purse as she walks.
Wife: Nyjer, I think I left my phone at the restaurant.
Morgan: NOOOOO!! (grabs her purse, dropkicks it into the water)
Wife: Wait, it was in my jacket pocket here. Why did you do that?
Morgan: Um. You should probably go get your purse. I’ll wait here.
