Today’s game between the Indians and White Sox is still in progress as of this writing, but the course of the game has taken a bizarre turn thanks to umpire Joe West. You remember West from his comments that the pace of play during Yankees-Red Sox games are a “disgrace.” The tables might be turned on West after today’s game in Cleveland. He’d already tossed White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen for arguing a balk call against Mark Buehrle in the second inning. Then, in the third, it happened again. And, well, see for yourself:↵

Joe West’s Quick Trigger: The Real Disgrace to Baseball
↵
↵A light toss of the glove to the ground gets you tossed from a baseball game, really? You know what slows down a game, Joe West? Causing a scene like this with a completely idiotic ejection of a player. Needless to say, the WGN crew was none too pleased with the ejection. Quoting Hawk Harrelson:↵↵⇥Joe West deserves a suspension for what he did. He needs a rest. ... I tell you what Mark Buehrle is one of ... Joe West just wanted to stick it up his behind and he just did. He should be suspended. That is a flat-out, absolute disgrace to the umpiring profession, what this guy has been doing. West doesn’t care. He does not care. He’s an absolute disgrace. He used to be a good umpire. Joe West used to be a good umpire. He has become a disgrace.↵↵That’s some solid hometown indignation from Harrelson on the call. Notably absent: Harrelson saying “he gone” when they tossed Buehrle.

↵UPDATE: The Chicago Sun-Times has the details of Ozzie Guillen’s postgame comments that will probably leave him a little lighter in the wallet.
↵↵⇥He thinks he’s the s--- in the field. People pay to watch f---ing players play, not to see umpires and managers. I don’t see any people say, ‘I’m going to see Ozzie Guillen manage or Joe West f---ing umpire.’ ”↵↵
