It’s Official! Giants Call Up AAA Catcher Buster Posey

The Giants did what many had ranted about for the past month-they called up AAA catching prospect Buster Poseytoday and he will start at FIRST BASE tonight. He will have dual eligibility by the end of the season, I am sure. Posey was hitting .349-.442-.552 with 6 HRs and 32 RBI with a 30/28 K/BB rate in 173 at bats in AAA.

I am curious where the Giants will bat him. Their lineup last night was as follows:

Torres

Sanchez

Sandoval

Huff

Uribe

Molina

Rowand

Schierholtz

If it was up to me, i would bat him 5th or 6th to start out. I assume Huff will move to left field, with Torres moving to right field, and Schierholtz to the bench.

I dropped Diamondbacks catcher Chris Snyder for Posey in one of my keeper leagues. I think he can go 10-50-.280 the rest of the season. What do Fake Teamers think?

Andrew Cashner Watch: Kevin Goldstein from Baseball Prospectus hears that the Cubs may call up AAA pitcher Andrew Cashner on Monday. I assume he will start out in the bullpen. In AA and AAA this season, Cashner has a 60/15 KBB rate in 56 IP and a 6-1 record.
