Rule Of Thumb: Don’t Make Sarcastic Jokes About Attempted Murder

With the Celtics and Lakers set to face off on Thursday for yet another showdown in the NBA Finals, it’s no surprise to hear some trash talk coming from both sides. Familiarity breeds contempt, after all. But this guy took it too far:

↵↵Two years ago, he fell during the Finals against the Lakers and went off in a wheelchair. An actual wheelchair! Five minutes later, he was dropping three-pointers all over TD Banknorth Garden. He actually came back into the game with the music from “Rocky” blaring over the public-address system. Yo, Paulie, that was such a bad con job, Sylvester Stallone is a better actor than your are.

↵By the way, Pierce’s idea of a fun night is going clubbing and getting stabbed. Good times!

↵↵This from some random Lakers blog the Los Angeles Times. And honestly, I’m not sure which is worse: Joking about the time Pierce nearly died after getting stabbed 11 times and was hit over the head with a bottle... Or that awful, awful Sly Stallone joke the sentence before. Either way, thanks for making us dumber, random LA Times writer.

↵And, in the interest of fair time, Shaquille O’Neal’s thoughts on Pierce:

↵↵“Take this down. My name is Shaquille O’Neal, and Paul Pierce is the [expletive] truth. Quote me on that, and don’t take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn’t know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth.”

↵↵UPDATE: The LA Times pulled the column... Rghtfully so. If you’re still curious, you can find this journalistic gem via Google Cache.
