You would think an MLB franchise would do what it could to forget being on the wrong side of a perfect game. But the Florida Marlins have a different idea: Profiting from it.
Want To See Roy Halladay’s Perfect Game? You Just Need A Time Machine
Yes, the Marlins are taking advantage of a historic moment -- and their usual dismal attendance -- to try to turn a profit off of Roy Halladay’s flawless game Friday. They’re selling the unused tickets, which probably number around 10,000.
The tickets will be available Tuesday for face value, which is either a discount considering that you’re buying a piece of history or a rip-off considering that you’re buying a ticket without being able to, you know, actually attend the game.
Beyond the odd memorabilia junkie, it’s hard to see why anyone would be interested in owning a ticket to a perfect game that they didn’t attend. You could, as some have suggested, pretend you went to the game even if you didn’t. But how sad would your life have to be to do that?
Then again, Phillies fans might be interested in remembering the game. After all, they did score a run.
