Darren Sharper was on the free agent market for nearly two months before taking a free agent visit last week. The reason for the visit, many speculated, was to get the Saints to increase their offer. Darren Sharper Turned Down More Money From The Jaguars To Stay In New Orleans
“We took a shot at it. A lot of us thought it’d be a good fit for us and for him,” said Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio. “We aggressively pursued the potential of bringing him here and showed him our interest. If it didn’t work out, then we just wish him the best and go forward.”
Jaguars GM Gene Smith said he respected Sharper’s decision while his agent indicated New Orleans was the No. 1 choice all along.
