Stephen Strasburg Promoted To Triple-A Syracuse

Stephen Strasburg took another step toward his much anticipted major league debut today, as the Washington Nationals promoted their top prospect to their Syracuse based Triple-A team, according to the official Nationals twitter account.

Even before being named the number one overall pick last spring, Strasburg was one of the most hyped pitching prospects in recent memory. Those in the Nationals organization, and their followers in the District, expect Strasburg to anchor the rotation for the next decade.

In four starts at Double-A Harrisburg, Strasburg went 3-1 with 1.64 ERA, allowing only 13 hits across 22 innings pitched. He showed off the dominant stuff that makes him a cornerstone prospect, striking out 27 batters and walking only six while appearing nearly unhittable in his three wins.

Strasburg will make his first Triple-A start Friday vs. Gwinnett.
