Carlos Lee’s Walk Off Home Run, And Acknowledging That The Astros Did Something Well

A quick look through our archives will show that we here at SB Nation often make light of the Astros 2010 season, especially when we need an easy joke or an example of a really poor offense. And while we’re not here to apologize -- after all, Houston is still 29th in our recent MLB Power Rankings -- we feel the need to at least point out when they do something good on the baseball field. And Wednesday night, they did just that.

↵With the score tied in the bottom of the ninth, Carlos Lee -- he of the .198 batting average and 0 home runs this season -- stepped to the plate and promptly destroyed a baseball, sending it over the train depot in left field to give the Astros a 4-2 win against the Diamondbacks, snapping Houston’s eight-game losing streak.

↵So, congratulations to the Astros and their fans. And definitely to Carlos Lee, too, for his first home run of the season. Way to earn that $19 million salary, big guy.
