Detroit’s Jimmy Howard Kept Red Wings In Game Five As Best He Could
The Detroit Red Wings will be sitting out of the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time in two years due to their loss to the San Jose Sharks on Saturday night. They do have some hope for the future with the solid play of Jimmy Howard in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Red Wings will start evaluating their season and have to make some changes in the offseason with decisions by Nicklas Lidstrom on whether he will play and whether the organization will keep Todd Bertuzzi. The San Jose Sharks were served their first piece of humble pie in their series against the Red Wings during Game Four. Giving up five goals in the first period on their way to a 7-1 loss at the Joe Louis Arena during what was the first elimination game was an eye opener for the Sharks and goaltender Evgeni Nabokov.
Nabokov is the key player for the Sharks in Saturday night’s Game Five. If he bounces back and plays a good game, his performance in Game Four will be quickly forgotten.
