Dallas Braden’s Grandmother: ‘Stick It, A-Rod’

As was mentioned multiple times during the game’s broadcast, Dallas Braden’s grandmother was in attendance for his perfect game. It’s Mother’s Day, after all, and she had raised Braden after his mother died of cancer. Touching stuff.

Turns out, though, that in addition to her role as “maternal figure/feel good story fodder,” she’s quick with a quote.

Dallas Braden’s grandmother is here and speaking to the press. She says, and I’m not joking, “Stick it, A-Rod.”

Yes, this is the same Dallas Braden that got into it with A-Rod after the Yankees slugger walked on Braden’s mound just last month. To A-Rod’s credit, though, he had something better to say than “yeah well he’s still a dumb ol’ stupid”:

A-Rod, on Braden: “Good for him. Even better that he beat the Rays.”

Looks like the perfect game’s bringing out the best in everybody today. Well, by everybody, we mean “everybody except definitely not the Rays.”
