No one told the Diamondbacks that they didn’t need to bring any gifts with them to the ballpark on Monday. Esmerling Vasquez gave up the winning run via a balk in the ninth-inning, allowing the Dodgers to complete a four-run comeback for the 5-4 win.

“A balk-off?” joked Dodgers manager Joe Torre. “Casey started off the third base line, Vasquez stopped, and it was a balk. We lucked out. It was nice to win the ball game.”
“I saw what he did. He flinched,” said Diamondbacks manager A.J. Hinch on Vasquez. “It was simple to see -- I didn’t talk to anybody. Lopez did everything you could ask. This one stings. This team needs a win. It’s frustrating for our club.”
