The World Cup Opening Ceremonies 2010 On Univision Are Bat Country

If you’re going to watch the World Cup and its trippy opening ceremonies, you may as well go down the rabbit hole all the way and watch them on Univision. If you had, you would have seen all of the following things in Spanish before 9 a.m. EDT.

↵1. A giant puppet of a dung beetle rolling an oversized soccer ball across the pitch during the opening ceremonies.

↵2. R. Kelly showing up in a ceremony filled with smiling young African girls.

↵3. A puppet with a soccer ball for a head offering up analysis on Univision as the human announcers nodded and talked to him like he was George Will breaking down a Commerce Clause case:

↵Gracias, Univision. Muchas gracias por todos. (And it’s just day one.)
