Big East Expansion Threats May, In Fact, Be Real (Or Not)
Local 6 Sports Director David Pingalore is reporting that multiple college football sources have said that the University of Central Florida and Memphis could be invited to join the Big East conference as soon as next week.

The Big East would like to have the 19th largest TV market in the country -- Orlando -- which UCF would provide.
And right on its heels, here comes the fiercest non-denial denial imaginable:
Multiple sources have told the Orlando Sentinel reports that UCF might be heading to the Big East as early as next week are premature.

Big East officials haven’t committed to preemptive expansion yet to secure the conference’s future if it ends up getting raided by other leagues. The issue will be discussed today during a teleconference by league officials.
No such two-stepping from the Tigers yet ... perhaps Memphis will be content to simply let Fred Smith’s money do the talking for them?
And just to make this interesting, we’ve got West Virginia possibly getting cold feet, and a Friday conference call that may or may not make all this official.
Buckle up, sports fans. This is about to kick off all over again, only it’ll be much less interesting, because it’s about the Big East.
