Marcus Jordan Says You Can’t Compare Kobe to His Dad

More than a few people mentioned how much Kobe Bryant’s celebration on the scorer’s table after Game 7 looked like Michael Jordan’s similar celebration after his sixth title against the Jazz. But before it even got to that point, Michael’s son Marcus had already seen enough of the Jordan and Bryant comparisons.↵↵First, he sounded off with his own post to Twitter:↵

↵↵⇥NO ONE...And I mean NO ONE should EVER com par kobe Bryant to my dad an say that he is anywhere near close to my dad He’s jagging this game↵↵Then he retweeted a photo sent to him by another Twitter user.↵

↵↵

↵↵It’s tough to argue with the stats overall. And Jordan never even faced a Game 7 in the NBA Finals. (Five of his six Finals were won in six games. The 1991 title was won in five games) M.J. and Kobe do share nearly identical games in closeout situations based on last night’s poor performance by the Black Mamba. In 1996, Jordan was just 5-for-19 from the field, shooting just 26.3 percent. It’s a line that looks an awful lot like Bryant’s 6-for-24 from last night. Still, for the bulk of M.J.‘s career, he was nothing but rock-solid in situations where the Bulls were trying to close out the Finals.↵

↵↵Finally, Marcus closed by being at least somewhat deferential:↵

↵↵⇥Don’t get me wrong Kobe is one of the best in the league.... Just no where near my dad...good game right here tho↵↵↵It might be another example of Marcus Jordan making more waves for something that has nothing to do with him actually playing basketball, but it’s tough to argue with him on this particular point.↵

↵↵More NBA Finals coverage can be found over on The Baseline. ↵
