Jerry Seinfeld to Be Reunited on TV With “Boyfriend” Keith Hernandez

↵Can you believe it’s been 18 years since Seinfeld gave us the theory of the second spitter? The two-part episode with Hernandez featured some of the best lines in the show’s history. They included more than just the JFK-style film re-enactment of Kramer and Newman’s interaction with the Mets slugger. The two-part episode also featured George’s Vandelay Industries latex manufacturing ruse as well as the “sneak a peek” moment with Jerry, George and Kramer at the gym. Not to mention, of course, Jerry’s classic “this is all very confusing” line after getting upset that Hernandez hadn’t called him yet.↵

↵↵Oh yeah, there’s the whole thing about helping Hernandez move, too.↵

↵↵Courtesy of Neil Best at Newsday, word is that Jerry Seinfeld will be reunited with Hernandez for the first time on television. In the booth of a Mets game. That should be fun.↵

↵↵⇥Seinfeld recently learned of a bonus [Father’s Day] gift arranged by his wife, Jessica: When the Mets host the Tigers Wednesday, he will join Hernandez and Gary Cohen in SNY’s booth to help call the game.↵⇥↵⇥Though both often are at Mets games and despite their shared history, Hernandez said it will be the first time he has had any sort of extended conversation with Seinfeld in a “very, very long time.”↵⇥

↵⇥↵⇥And it certainly will be the first time they have publicly discussed “The Boyfriend,” in which Seinfeld becomes jealous of his friend Elaine’s relationship with Hernandez, among other plot developments.↵⇥

↵⇥↵⇥“I’ll get to ask him questions regarding his feelings about my performance,” Hernandez said.↵⇥

↵↵

That could make for some fantastic conversation in the booth, as Seinfeld is notoriously awkward in situations like that. Best reports that the comedian could be in the booth for as long as three innings. I hope they let him do a little play-by-play and don’t just turn it into a “so, whatcha been up to lately, Jer,” type of celebrity interview. Let the man roll up his sleeves and call the game. Here’s to hoping MLB Network picks up Wednesday’s game, so we can all…sneak a peek.↵↵ ↵
