Predators Fans React To Hamhuis Trade

Nashville Predators fans at our blog, On the Forecheck, aren’t too happy with the return they picked up today for Dan Hamhuis.

Once again, the Nashville Predators are bringing a former player of theirs back into the fold, trading Dan Hamhuis to the Philadelphia Flyers for defenseman Ryan Parent, who was originally drafted by Nashville in 2005 (last summer, they brought in Francis Bouillon for a second stint as a Pred). With Hamhuis headed to free agency, and a contract that the Predators cannot afford, this deal mimics the 2007 trade that sent Kimmo Timonen and Scott Hartnell to the Flyers. Preds GM David Poile is at least getting some value back as "Hammer" leaves to make his fortune.

Sure, it’s some value but a quick venture down into the OtF comments shows the disdain of the fans.

3DLink says, with much agreement following:

As a Preds fan first and Flyers fan second… this is pretty awful. Its hard to think that the absolute best we could get for the rights to Hamhuis was Ryan Parent. I know that Flyers fans are jumping with joy at the prospect of moving Parent even if they only get a 7th round draft pick out of the deal.

Yep. Read more at OtF.
