An emotional scene after Wednesday’s historic U.S. Soccer win

PRETORIA, South AfricaU.S. wonder boy Landon Donovan choked up in the post-game press conference here tonight, explaining about the last four years, how tough certain things have been, personally and professionally, and talking about wonderful redemption.

Donovan hit the historic goal, and the U.S. didn't just go through the second round here, they won the group. Over England!

I'll have more later … busy, busy, busy, writing across numerous platforms right now.

Player ratings are up here already.

But here's a quick little taste of something very cool. Donovan wasn't the only one getting emotional in the post-game setting. Bob Bradley, usually quite stoic and studious, talked about the bus ride up to the stadium, and he said it really affected the team, injecting just a little more want-to into the effort.

"That last bit, right before the stadium, the street was lined with U.S. supporters, waving flags, dressed up, chanting "U.S.A.", knocking on the bus," Bradley said. "We don’t always have that. To have that happening in a World Cup in South Africa … I think I could speak on behalf all our players, that was a really special feeling for us all."
