World Cup 2010, Spain Vs. Chile: David Villa Puts Spain Ahead From Long Distance In 25th Minute
The opportunity came as Claudio Bravo came out of his box to try and play a ball put behind the defense by Xabi Alonso, hoping to connect with Fernando Torres. On the left flank of the attack, Bravo slid for the ball but could only play it up the field, where David Villa ran onto the bill and hit it into the empty net.
The was Villa’s third goal of the tournament and put Spain in the lead and in position to win Group H. If current results hold, Spain would be through on top of the group with Chile second.
