During an engagement, the wife-to-be may sometimes introduce certain stipulations or attach conditions before the exchanging of vows. Maybe she wants her fiance to lose a few pounds, or agree to shave his beard, or actually remember to put the toilet seat down. Or, if she’s Jane Richards, she makes her fiance complete an Ironman triathlon -- a 2.4-mile swim, 122-mile ride and a 26.2-mile run -- before agreeing to marry him.
Man Completes Ironman Triathlon, Is Now Allowed To Marry His Fiancee
↵That’s right -- Richards said that she would not go through with the marriage until her fiance, Lachlan Wolfers, had completed an Ironman.
↵↵“Most guys just ask a girl to marry them and they say yes or no on the spot. I get conditions attached. It’s pretty tough and it’s not exactly the easiest race to have to do. One way or another, this is my first time. I don’t care if I have to crawl across the finish line. I’m going to get there,” said Wolfers.
↵↵Fortunately, on Sunday, he finished his first -- and what will be his last -- Ironman, crossing the finish line at the Coeur d’Alene, Idaho event in 11 hours and 42 minutes. He ended-up 86th (out of 327) in his age group, and for his effort he earned a medal, a lifetime of bragging rights and the chance to marry his fiancee, saying, “I’m exhausted. I’m exhilarated. And I’m getting married in six weeks time!”
↵Jane also completed the Ironman, about 30 minutes ahead of Laclan. The wedding is in six weeks. And yes, they’re Australian.
