Blake Cooper worked out of a runners-on-first-and-second jam without damage, leading the Gamecocks into the top of the fourth with a 5-0 lead. Cooper isn’t throwing very hard tonight, but is mixing his breaking pitches effectively and keeping UCLA off-stride. He’s also had better luck than Gerrit Cole, who seems snakebit on seeing-eye hits and poor defensive support.
