Is it hyperbole to say that? Probably. But it's also kind of true. With the possible exception of 1996, when Michael Jordan, Shaquille O'Neal and Reggie Miller were the headliners, there has never been a free agent class as decorated as this one. Those guys, along with a handful of second- and third-tier players, make up a free agent class for the ages. Better yet, there are nine teams with over $10 million in cap room, as well as several others with the means to acquire top-level talent via a sign and trade. In other words, there’s enough demand to keep up with the supply.
The free agency period officially begins on July 1, but there will be a lot of speculation about where all these guys will go even before then.
