Walter Payton, Single Wing Quarterback From Hell
↵Walter Payton ran the Wildcat before anyone bothered to call it the Wildcat, though the old single-wing existed for years and years before fading into football oblivion, only to be resurrected in the 21st century by spread offenses in college and the Miami Dolphins in the NFL. Whatever its roots, Walter Payton running it against Green Bay in 1984 is an awesome sight, especially on the capping TD when Payton, from the tailback spot, throws a beautiful touchdown pass with touch. If I could find them I’d still wear ‘Roos kicks just to honor the freakball football talent that made me watch NFL Films’ Crunch Course five hundred times as a child. (HT: Smart Football.)
