Tony Plohetski of the Austin American Statesman reports Bengals RB Cedric Benson was arrested for an incident that took place on May 30.
Bengals RB Cedric Benson Arrested For Allegedly Punching A Bar Employee In The Face
Former University of Texas football star Cedric Benson was arrested and charged with assault with injury early today after an incident last month at Annie’s West at 706 West Sixth Street, where officials said he punched a bar employee in the face.
The current running back for the Cincinnati Bengals had been involved in an altercation at the establishment and was being escorted out, according to an arrest affidavit.
Benson has posted bail and been released.
While it’s never a good time to be arrested, it’s especially worse when you’re trying to get a contract extension. The Bengals and Benson’s reps were reportedly in the “early stages” of discussing a contract extension.
Benson has previously caught the eye of the law. He was arrested for operating a boat while intoxicated and DUI. However, he was cleared of both charges.
