Afternoon Armando Galarraga Wrapup

With the Armando Galarraga aftermath still playing out today, here’s a look at a few of the stories you might’ve missed.↵↵Not a bad consolation prize.↵

↵↵Chevy presented with Galarraga with a Corvette prior to Thursday’s game against the Indians. (The picture above comes from the official Tigers Twitter account.)↵

↵↵Yes, Jim Joyce is behind the plate.↵

↵↵Evidently Joyce had the option of not being on the field for today’s game in Detroit, but he stuck it out. Things got a little emotional when he came onto the field and Galarraga presented today’s lineup card, as you can see below.↵

If Bud Selig won’t fix it, the governor would like to.↵↵Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm put up a tweet last night that said the following:↵

↵↵⇥As governor, I’m issuing a proclamation declaring Galarraga pitched a perfect game!↵↵↵And wouldn’t you know it? There’s even a news release to go with the tweet. I still say the car was a better gift. (MLB is still deciding what to do with the call, if anything.)↵

↵↵Winners and Losers.↵

↵↵CNBC’s Darren Rovell breaks down the winners and losers from the blown call. I have to wholeheartedly agree with his assessment of MLB Network’s coverage. They did an outstanding job of bringing viewers all of the action live as it happened and not really shying away from saying the call was wrong -- even if a graphic on screen depicted it as “controversial.”↵
