The disallowed goal the U.S. scored against Slovenia wound up being inconsequential in the grand scheme of things. The U.S. still advanced to the knockout round and won its group. Even if the goal had account, it wouldn’t have somehow stopped them from allowing that awful first-half turnover that resulted in an early lead for Ghana. But we hold grudges and we demand answers!↵
Don’t Expect An Answer from Ref Koman Coulibaly Any Time Soon About That Goal
↵
↵
↵↵ESPN Radio’s Ron Flatter spoke with Coulibaly about the goal, and well, we aren’t getting that answer soon:↵
↵↵⇥ ESPN: Are you prepared to offer an explanation as to why the goal was not allowed by Maurice Edu?↵⇥↵⇥Coulibaly: I am not ready to tell the explanation. What I did is that I gave to the refereeing commission the evaluation of the game, and if you have any questions, you ask them.↵⇥
↵↵This is strange, right? Even as Sepp Blatter pulled a quick 180 on replay, Coulibaly still doesn’t feel comfortable saying what he actually whistled. Being publicly contrite is an easy way to put this in the past, but the longer Coulibaly plays coy about the infamous call, the longer people will have questions about what really happened.↵
