Twenty-year old Engel Beltre is a half-decent prospect who came over from Boston to Texas as part of the Eric Gagne trade. He’s one of them toolsy guys. Good bat speed, good athleticism, strong arm. He also plays with fire.
And as we were reminded after Beltre hit a walk-off home run to lead the Bakersfield Blaze over the Visalia Rawhide, sometimes playing with fire can be dangerous.
