The Cote d’Ivoire football federation has confirmed that Didier Drogba suffered a broken arm, not a dislocated elbow.

In a statement on the web site, the governing body confirmed the diagnosis, an injury incurred during a Friday friendly against Japan. Japanese defense Tulio Tanaka collided with the Ivorian striker, with the captain suffering a broken arm in the process.
Drogba was originally feared lost for the World Cup with the break. Then news reported that Drogba has suffered a dislocation, not a break, and could be back within ten days.
The current news is somewhere in between. While the federation has confirmed the break, there are still hopes surgery will allow the Chelsea striker to be available for the World Cup.
The statement, released this evening, confirmed Drogba had not be removed from the team’s roster.
Drogba was set to undergo emergency surgery today with the hopes of stabilizing the injury such that he will be available for this summer’s finals.
