So there are the raw facts. To better understand this race, let’s direct our attention to our horse racing expert. Matt from SB Nation’s horse racing blog, And Down The Stretch They Come, notes that the pace of the Belmont Stakes is starkly different from those of the Kentucky Derby or Preakness Stakes.

This year’s Belmont appears (on paper) to be a race that will produce a relatively slow pace situation, which caused me to wonder how the fractions have broken down for past Belmont’s and whether we could identify any historical trends.

Also, you’ll want to take a look at Matt’s comprehensive wagering guide over at At Down The Stretch They Come.

Stay tuned to this StoryStream for news, updated odds, and further analysis as we come closer to Saturday’s Belmont Stakes.
