Introducing SB Nation Chicago, Where You’re Second To Nothin’ With Dustin Byfuglien

As part of our attempt to get organized heading into SB Nation’s launch Sunday night of the first six of our 20 regional websites, I asked the editors to send me their choice for their city’s most popular athlete.

True story: When I saw the name “Dustin Byfuglien” in SB Nation Chicago editor Al Yellon’s e-mail, I had to put it in the Google machine. Then, I had to ask a hockey fan to pronounce it for me (for the record, it’s “BUFF-lynn”).

The names that come to mind when I think Chicago sports: Brian Urlacher (he’s at No. 4); Patrick Kane (absent); Mark Buehrle (No. 3); and maybe Derrick Rose or Joakim Noah (both absent, though LeBron James made the list; wishful thinking on Al’s part).

But hey, it’s not my city. When I first visited Chicago last spring, I didn’t go to Wrigley or U.S. Cellular Field, I visited Robie House and Oak Park to look at more Frank Lloyd Wright homes. So I’ll trust Al’s judgement on this one. And that’s the great thing about SB Nation Chicago (and all of our new regional sites) -- they know their town, fanbase and teams. And just try and find a picture of Al when he’s not wearing some kind of Cubs gear; seriously, good luck with that.

And after watching the bearded Byfuglien play against the Flyers on Sunday night, that pick made a lot more sense.

If you disagree, however, here’s your chance to weigh in. We’ll use SB Nation Chicago’s list -- and add Derrick Rose -- and give you the chance to pick the most popular athlete in Chicago.

And, more importantly, bookmark SB Nation Chicago and keep going back. It’s a site Windy City sports fans won’t want to miss.
