There’s nothing like an athlete throwing out false, baseless accusations against a superior competitor in their own line of work out of spite, jealousy, or in this case, most likely in an attempt to get inside the head of the champion.
Josh Koscheck Joins BJ Penn In Accusing Georges St. Pierre Of Doping, GSP Welcomes Olympic-Style Drug Testing
Thanks to Josh Koscheck, as told by MMA Junkie, we have yet another example of such egregious actions:
”From what I’ve heard from other fighters in other camps, yeah, [St-Pierre] has done steroids and HGH, possibly. I don’t know. This is just on hearsay information that I’ve gotten.
B.J. Penn and his camp gave me a little phone call. They were saying, ‘Yeah, he’s on steroids. He’s this; he’s that.’ I said, ‘Yeah, there’s a possibility.’ The guy is pretty ripped all year round.”
‘The guy is ripped all year round.’ Really, Josh. That’s the best you can do? Surely you have more convincing evidence that GSP is using performance enhancing drugs other than ‘dude’s always rocking a six-pack.’
As I mentioned above, Koscheck claiming that St. Pierre is hopped up on roids is more than likely just a mind game tactic. But I don't think he anticipated the following response from the welterweight kingpin.
"I have no problem; anytime he wants. I stand for that more than anybody else. I stand for this, and I just hope it's going to happen soon. I know a lot of people cheat in this sport, and it's unacceptable.
"I'm for random drug testing. There's nobody in the UFC that agrees more with random testing then me... Anything they want, I don't care. I give my body to science."
While it’s unlikely that Olympic-style drug testing will be adopted by the UFC as well as the appropriate athletic commission in time for the title fight later this year, it’s promising that one of the sport’s biggest names is all for it.
Oh, and Josh, don't expect a "little" phone call from BJ on how to prevent getting beat into submission come December.
