Speaking on a Bay Area radio station last week, Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck said he wants to get a college degree before going to the NFL.

“I don’t think about it that much,” the redshirt sophomore said on KNBR. “I still consider myself a pretty young guy. I need to get a degree in college before I start thinking about that stuff. I will probably stay in school for sure.”
The thought then is that Luck would go pro following his junior season and be in the 2012 NFL Draft. Of course, a lot could change between now and January when underclassmen have to declare for next year’s draft.
Should Luck play through his junior season, he would also battle for draft position with Southern California quarterback Matt Barkley. A true sophomore going into this season, Barkley is projected as an early first round pick. During the 2009 draft, Mel Kiper of ESPN said Barkley is a future first overall selection.
But thus far, Luck has made more of an impression. In 2009, Luck completed 56.2 percent of his passes for 2,575 yards, 13 touchdowns and only four interceptions.
