Well he’s finally gone ahead and done it! Ricky will be racing at Pocono at the end of July! Congrats Ricky, we’re all pulling for you!

You should read this press release, the man has some weight behind him right now and it’s only going to get better from what I hear.

LEEDS, AL, July 12, 2010 (Ricky Byers Racing) -- You have heard of big names defeating the odds of cancer and pledging their support to eradicate, raise funds and awareness. NEXT UP – Ricky Byers, http://www.rickybyersracing.com, ARCA series driver who has bravely triumphed two bouts with squamous cell carcinoma. His professional success on the track and his intestinal fortitude spells – WINNER.

Now, with his Racing for a Cure campaign, he invites everyone (racing fans, celebrities, recording artists, athletes and businesses) who has ever dreamt or hoped for the opportunity to participate with the sport of racing, to join his team. Ricky believes everyone should have the advantage of a strong, positive team of champions to assist with raising funds to cover expenses, making the BEST medical decisions and support through the highs and lows involved in their personal battle with cancer. We can achieve this with donations (any denomination) and pledges of $1,000 or more. Also, available is a donated song, “Carolina Anthem–Throw Your Hands Up” contributed by Autumn Carter and co-written by Dalvin DeGrate, formerly of the Platinum award wining R&B group Jodeci, to the Race for a Cure campaign.

All donors will receive a certificate of participation, personalized thank you letter and authenticated autograph photo. While those who pledged will receive a certificate of participation, an authenticated autograph photo; their names will be listed on the side of the car, a sign outside of the team garage, on the website and on the donation check to be presented on national television (SPEED CHANNEL).

In exchange, Ricky is committed to using his skill and passion, for racing, to raise money through his winnings, merchandise and promotions; which he will donate every dollar to fighting cancer.

Next race, the Weis Markets 125 ARCA RE/MAX Series (50 Laps, 125 Miles), at the Pocono Raceway on July 31st will be broadcasting on Speed Channel. Check your local guide for channel information and tune in as we prevail one lap at a time.

Feel free to send all donations to the following address:
