2010 British Open At St. Andrews, First Round: Louis Oosthuizen Shoots 7-Under 65, Takes Second Place
The 54th-ranked Oosthuizen concluded a round of eight birdies and a single bogey coming on the difficult 17th hole, to leapfrog former champ John Daly, whose remarkable comeback at St. Andrews after shooting an opening round 66 was only overshadowed by phenom Rory McIlroy’s scorching round of 63.
Oosthuizen has never won a PGA tour event, though he does have six career titles between the European and Sunshine tour, with five of them coming on the latter. His best career finish in a major was coming in 73rd at the 2008 PGA Championship.
