David Beckham Loves Kids, Legos. Coaching Professionals? Not So Much

↵When last we saw David Beckham, he was scowling on the sidelines – impeccably dressed in an FA-issued three piece gray suit – while his English mates got run out of the World Cup by rival Germany. Yesterday, the international superstar and LA Galaxy midfielder held a worldwide chat in conjunction with Yahoo. The 90-minute (give or take) program was streamed live around the world as Becks – who hasn’t played since tearing his Achilles in March – answered questions from doe-eyed fans the world over. ↵

↵

↵↵

↵↵After starting the chat with annoying stories about his three kids – even after the interviewer joked that people never realize that nobody ever cares to hear annoying stories about your kids – Becks answered the hard-hitters. The headliner, from Off the Post (via Yahoo): ↵

↵↵⇥This is going to make me sound really weird but when I was in Milan I had such a big amount of spare time. I found online that you can buy a Lego model of the Taj Mahal so I bought it and started building it, I only built some of it because I got injured halfway through - not while building the Lego!↵⇥↵⇥“I know it’s not a career but I love doing it and would like to be a professional Lego builder. My boys are the same, they’re obsessed with it.↵⇥

↵⇥↵⇥“Football has affected my family in an unbelievable way, to travel to so many places, if I’d done something else like been a Lego builder, I wouldn’t have been able to do anything like that.” ↵⇥

↵↵Lego builder or international sports superstar? Lego builder or international sports superstar? Lego builder or…↵↵Beckham probably made the right choice. But what about his future career choices? Beckham hinted that he’d be willing to play for England in the 2012 Olympics and mentioned that he’s been finally able to run, targeting a return to the field in September. What about the suit on the sidelines? Does Becks see a future in coaching?↵

↵

↵ ↵

↵↵⇥“I don’t think I will ever want to manage. It’s not a passion of mine.↵⇥↵⇥“I’m passionate about the game. I was wearing the suit at the World Cup so people have looked and thought I could be going into management.↵⇥

↵⇥↵⇥“I love coaching kids - that’s one of the reasons I have my academies. But coaching a team, being a manager, at this point I don’t want to do that and in the future I don’t think that will happen either.”↵⇥

↵↵If he doesn’t want to manage, he can always make a living doing Lego recreations of famous England matches. Of course, he’d probably pick happier memories than this:
