2010 British Open At St. Andrews, Fourth Round: Louis Oosthuizen’s Lead Grows To Five Shots

With the last groups of the 2010 British Open having teed off for their final rounds, the race for the Claret Jug is quickly becoming a two-man affair. Lee Westwood, Henrik Stenson and Martin Kaymer remain deadlocked at 7-under overall in a tie for third place through four, three and three holes respectively, but the trio are still a full eight shots back of leader Louis Oosthuizen.

The little known South African journeyman is even for Sunday through two holes to stay at 15-under overall, which has been good enough to widen his lead to five strokes over Brit Paul Casey, who bogeyed the par-4 second hole to fall back to 10-under for the championship. With few players making serious moves on the day, and so much room between Oosthuizen and the rest of the field besides Casey, it would take a complete implosion at this point from the South African for anyone other than himself or Paul Casey to win The Open Championship.

Alvaro Quiros and Rickie Fowler have posted the best fourth rounds thus far, with the pair of them shooting 5-under 67s to reach 5 and 4-under overall. Meanwhile, Tiger Woods is 1-over through 11 holes to fall back to 2-under in a tie for 31st.
