Eight Notre Dame Football Players Among 44 Arrested At House Party

Never let it be said that Indiana does everything in an unbearably stilted, whitebread fashion. Throw on some Yakety Sax, and enjoy the sizzling visuals of Saturday morning’s Notre Dame house party bust:

South Bend police said they were dispatched to the neighborhood at 1:41 a.m. on the report of about a dozen people fighting, throwing punches near the corner of Washington and Eddy streets, one block north of Jefferson Boulevard.
Upon arrival, officers heard glass breaking from the back of the residence and immediately called for more units. South Bend police said pandemonium began to occur, with numerous men and women jumping out of windows and off the roof of the residence.
A whopping 44 people were arrested in the ensuing fracas. The police blotter tally for the athletic department stands thus far at two basketball players, nine hockey players, and eight from the football team, including a couple expected to contend for starting nods:

Those arrested included junior quarterback Nate Montana, junior linebacker Steve Filer, sophomore kicker Nick Tausch, sophomore offensive guard Chris Watt, sophomore receiver Robby Toma, freshman receiver Tai-ler Jones, freshman cornerback Lo Wood and freshman offensive lineman Tate Nichols.

Domer faithful can't like the separation speed here; with at least three would-be downfield/secondary threats unable to elude police in a residential neighborhood after dark, the Irish coaching staff clearly has some headway to make in the conditioning program. (Speaking of Brian Kelly, he's still professing to be in fact-gathering mode, with no news yet regarding possible disciplinary action.)
