NBA Free Agency: Knicks Reportedly Offer Amar’e Stoudemire A Max Contract

The Amar’e Stoudemire sweepstakes are underway, and the first team to make headway appears to be the New York Knicks. According to Marc Spears and Adrian Wojnarowski, the Knicks have offered Stoudemire a five-year maximum contract.

Amar’e Stoudemire and the New York Knicks are making progress in talks on a five-year maximum guaranteed contract and a deal could be completed as soon as Friday, league sources told Y! Sports.

The framework of a deal is in place and the two sides are expected to talk again soon, sources said.

The contract is expected to be worth around $100 million for the five years. The Suns offered Stoudemire $96 million for five years, but only the first three years were fully guaranteed, so Stoudemire rejected it.
