Wimbledon: Rafael Nadal Charges Back To Beat Andy Murray In Straight Sets, Will

No. 2 Rafael Nadal came back from down 4-2 in the third set against No. 4 Andy Murray, winning the last four games to take the match 6-4, 7-6(6), 6-4.

Murray got an early break to open the third set and get himself into the match, but even as he trailed early on it was clear the momentum had not left Nadal. He constantly pressured Murray on every point, grinding away until eventually Murray buckled.

Murray hit a swinging forehand volley long on match point, sending Nadal crashing to the ground in joy.

After the match, Nadal told the BBC that he felt “sorry” for Murray, for not being able to win in front of his home crowd.

Nadal is on a twenty-four match win streak at Wimbledon against players not named “Roger Federer,” a category which includes Tomas Berdych.

Berdych will be able to hit through Nadal in a way Murray couldn’t though, much in the same way Robin Haase and Philipp Petzschner were able to in the first week. But Nadal has worlds more experience than Berdych, and far more self-belief, as well. If Berdych can get off to a fast start it could be interesting, but otherwise I see Nadal taking it without too much problem.
