↵There was a time when it was easy to blow off TMZ, but this is a new media day and when they have a story about the NCAA possibly taking a look at two former and two current UK basketball players, we need to pay attention. And that is indeed the story that is being reported today.↵↵⇥According to a source who was interviewed by an NCAA investigator, the agency is interested in at least four players -- two current and two who were just drafted by NBA teams.↵⇥↵⇥In the case of one former Wildcat, we’re told the NCAA wants to know about his relationship with his current agent. We’re told the investigator asked about multiple meetings↵⇥the agent allegedly had with the player ... dating back to the player’s senior year in high school.↵⇥

↵↵Again, before you scoff at the notion of TMZ breaking some sort of news on this front, keep in mind that it was TMZ that got the ball rolling at uncovering some curious transactions at Oklahoma involving Tiny Gallon, a Merrill Lynch advisor and a Sooners assistant. (Read more on that timeline in Brian Cook’s post.)↵↵I won’t even begin to speculate about which two current/former players are being investigated, except I’ll only comment by saying that if the “current” does not include the incoming freshman class, I’d be completely stumped. None of the pre-John Calipari guys were exactly the types of players I picture agents getting after at an early age. One important fact is that unless TMZ is just butchering the NCAA terminology, there is no actual “investigation” under way by the NCAA.↵

↵↵TMZ got no response from the NCAA or UK and coach John Calipari, who is typically quick to try and put out these public fires, has not mentioned anything on Twitter as of this writing.↵
