Rangers reliever Dustin Nippert avoided catastrophe when he got hit in the head by a line drive Monday night, but the team is still going to give him a little break to get himself right:

Dustin Nippert, who was hit in the head by a line drive Monday night, is headed to the disabled list, said assistant manager Thad Levine, and Doug Mathis has been recalled.
There’s been no indication that Nippert is seriously hurt, but he’s likely still bruised and battered. Mathis will at least temporarily assume Nippert’s role in the back of the bullpen.
