The Hoosier Showdown

Jeff Gordon is one of the greatest drivers to ever strap into a race car. A California native who calls Indiana home, his resume holds up well against any in the modern era of American motorsport. He has triumphed on his adopted home track, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, four times, a record for the track’s oval layout which he shares with racing immortals AJ Foyt, Al Unser, and Rick Mears.

Tony Stewart is perhaps the greatest born and bred Hoosier racer ever. Displaying an old school versatility that was the trademark of his hero Foyt, the native of small town Indiana has raced and won in a wide range of cars, scoring eleven driving titles over sanctioning bodies such as USAC, the Indy Racing League, and NASCAR. He got his long-awaited first win at Indianapolis in 2005 and backed it up with another victory in 2007.
These two titans are winless on the 2010 season entering Sunday’s running of the Brickyard 400. What could be better than a battle for victory on Indy’s hallowed 2.5-mile surface between the greatest living drivers to claim the state of Indiana as home?

The Transplant vs The Natural.

It would be a duel for the ages to be talked about for all time, regardless of the victor.
