Willamy ‘Chiquerim’ Freire Forced Off UFC on Versus 2 With Knee Injury

“I was stoked (to fight), but God knows what he’s doing,” the Nova Uniao fighter tells Cruz. “We’re upset now, but we have to think positive. Dede (Pederneiras) brought in a physical therapist just to take care of my knee, and I’ll be back soon.”

- Brazilian lightweight Willamy “Chiquerim” Freire discusses the knee injury that forced him off the UFC on Versus 2 card

Freire is on an 11 fight win streak and was set to face a very stiff test in his first UFC bout against Thiago Tavares. Tavares would have entered the bout as a reasonably heavy favorite but Freire is a guy with nice buzz who has decent international experience.
