Royals outfielder David DeJesus has been talked about as a trade possibility for a while, now, as the Royals are plodding along and the 30 year old DeJesus is set to become a free agent after 2011. The latest update on the trade situation comes from Jon Morosi:
MLB Trade Rumors: David DeJesus Getting Looks From Giants, Padres, Red Sox
As SB Nation Kansas City’s Joel Thorman writes:
This is great news for the Royals. Their asking price on DeJesus has been described as “silly” and reports have also suggested they’re looking to “hit a homerun” in any deal with him so the more teams interested, theoretically the higher his price tag rises.
DeJesus may not be moved, but with a low price tag in 2010, a reasonable price tag in 2011, and a solid all-around game with few flaws at the plate or in the field, he is a very attractive piece to a team looking to round out its outfield. He’s batted .320 to date, and has historically been among Kansas City’s most consistently productive everyday players.
