Anderson Silva Will Not Move To Light Heavyweight

↵“It would be a pretension on my part to move up to perform at 205-pounds or even in the heavyweight division. I feel good in my category, happy with our outcomes and there will always be someone to challenge for the 185-pound belt.”

↵↵- Anderson Silva confirms he has no plans to move up to light heavyweight.

↵The move up to 205 would probably be the most interesting thing Silva could do in the eyes of fans, especially now that Machida is not champion and Anderson could actually challenge for the belt. Still, there is something to be said for continuing to stay at 185 and dominating for the remainder of his career. Assuming he beats Chael Sonnen at UFC 117 then he will have a challenge waiting from Vitor Belfort. There is also an interesting potential rematch down the road with Yushin Okami. Okami holds a victory by disqualification over Silva in a bout that took place back in 2006.
