Buck Showalter Is Reportedly New Orioles Manager

As expected, the Baltimore Orioles have reportedly hired Buck Showalter as their new manager. Tim Kurkjian reports:

Showalter’s first game as manager will be Tuesday, Aug. 3 against the Los Angeles Angels, the first game of a seven-game homestand.

Since firing Dave Trembley in June, the Orioles considered Eric Wedge and Bobby Valentine before making their decision. The 54-year-old Showalter has managed eleven seasons with the Yankees, Diamondbacks, and Rangers, compiling a 313-268 record.

The Orioles are 31-69 this season, though they’ve rebounded slightly after their 15-40 start under Trembley.
