8/13/1973 - Brock gets his 3,000th hit

At Busch Field, Cardinals outfielder Lou Brock gets the 3,000th hit of his career off the Cubs’ Dennis Lamp. It was fitting that Brock did it against the Chicago Cubs, who had traded him away in one of the more ill-fated deals in baseball. Brock ended his Hall of Fame career with 938 stolen bases, a record that would hold until 1991 when Rickey Henderson tallied stolen base No. 939.
