Hogs Haven liked the way the Redskins’ rookies played Friday night, though they are tempering some of their enthusiasm with “it’s just the Bills.” That goes more for the solid Trent Williams than the occasionally spectacular Brandon Banks.
The undrafted rookie showed the explosion that we have been lacking in the return game since as far back as I can remember. I can’t say we have ever had a player with this type of speed on our football team (maybe Darrell Green). He looked excellent on punt returns. Buffalo Bills running back Fred Jackson injured his left hand early in the first quarter of Friday’s 42-17 loss to Washington. According to reports, it’s bad enough that he will miss the remainder of the pre-season…if not more time.
Head coach Chan Gailey says he “hopes” that Jackson will be ready in time for the September 12th opener. RB Marshawn Lynch also left the game due to an injury, though it’s not believed to be serious.

Landover, MD (Sports Network) – Donovan McNabb went 5-for-8 with 58 yards and a passing touchdown in his Washington debut as the Redskins clobbered the Buffalo Bills, 42-17, in the preseason opener for both squads.
Rian Lindell kicked a 38-yard field goal in the first quarter, but Washington scored 21 unanswered points before halftime on an Anthony Armstrong four-yard touchdown catch from McNabb, a Williams two-yard score and a nine-yard catch by Fred Davis from Grossman to take a 21-3 lead into the break.
